Research laboratory presentation

The mission of Dr. Anick Bérard's research team is to determine the risks and benefits associated with the use of drugs during the perinatal period. The team brings together members from a variety of disciplines, including pharmacy, medicine, OB/GYN, paediatrics, biology, biostatistics, epidemiology and pharmacoeconomics. Located at the Research Center of the University Hospital Sainte-Justine and affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Montreal, the laboratory is a member of the Drug and Population Health Research Axis, which is interested in the use of drugs, their determinants, risks and benefits, and the evaluation of interventions to optimize their use.

 

Research project description

The project will explore the risks associated with medication exposure during pregnancy for mother and infant, using data from the Canadian Mother-Child Cohort (CAMCCO) Active Surveillance Initiative. This project is available within the laboratory of Dr. Anick Bérard, Medications and Pregnancy Research Unit at CHU Ste-Justine, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

 

The following skills are required:

  • Design and perform studies, analyze data, and develop new protocols
  • Uphold scientific integrity; publish work in high impact journals, present work at both national and local meetings
  • Conduct systematic reviews
  • Write summary reports
  • Conduct data management and analysis
  • Prepare manuscripts
  • Assist in grant proposal writing
  • Support graduate students within the team

 

Required training and profile

The successful candidate must have:

  • Academic requirements: PhD or ScD in epidemiology, public health, or biostatistics  
  • Language requirements: English, French an asset
  • Previous SAS programming experience is mandatory
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Team player
  • Scientific rigour

 

 

Conditions of fellowship

Status: Full-time (35-hour work/week, 1 year, renewable)

Pay Scale: PDF (Research Center of the CHU Sainte-Justine standards)

Work Shift: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays

Work Site: CHU Sainte-Justine (3175, Côte-Sainte-Catherine, Montréal, Québec H3T 1C5)

Eligibility criteria

  • Have an MSc in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or any other related field
  • Excellent academic record
  • Writing and understanding French and English are essential
  • Experience in analyzing large administrative databases as well as with SAS software is desirable
  • Good publication file in English is desired
  • Experience in perinatal epidemiology would be an asset
  • Have at least 2 letters of reference from MSc supervisors or professors
